Lysimachia clethroides flowers late summer attracting beneficial insects to your garden. This plant prefers full sun and can tolerant moist conditions, so it is perfect for growing in boggy positions like the edge of a pond. This perennial develops lovely red autumn colouring before going dormant for winter. Height 90cm when in flower.
It needs to be noted that this plant spreads quickly and can take over a garden. I have been able to keep mine under control with annual maintenance. These plants can be grown in large containers.
Excellent cut flower, perfect for weddings. Select straight, sturdy stems with about one-half
of their florets open and all closed buds showing good color. Immediately trim stems at a 45-degree angle with a sharp knife and remove lower foliage that would fall below the water line. Condition for 2 hours before using. Vase life up to 7 days. Flowers can be dried. Foliage can also be used in floral arrangements. Avoid contact with ethylene, as Lysimachia is sensitive to the gas.

Sow seeds in autumn but only lightly cover with potting mix as the seeds need light to germinate. Keep damp but not wet. Seeds germinate at approx 20C. Grow seedlings to approx 10cm, harden off and then transfer into the garden.
