Veronicastrum virginicum 'Cohen Jansen Form'

Updated: 4 days ago

The flowers are similar to Veronicas which is where they get their botanical name. This plant has elegant tall spires of densely arranged, tiny pink flowers in late summer and autumn. 'Cohen Jansen Form' adds architectural interest and is ideal for mass planting with grasses and Verbena bonariensis. Grow Veronicastrum in moderately fertile to humus rich, moist, well drained soil. Plant in a full sun to part shade position. Ensure there is good air flow around the plants. Height in flower 1.5m.

Excellent cut flowers.

Seeds must have a cold spell to break dormancy. If you don't live in a cold enough area, place

seeds in the fridge in a water tight container for 6 weeks before sowing. Sow seeds on the surface of the soil and sprinkle with a fine layer of soil. Water and keep damp but not wet. Seeds will germinate when temperatures are around 20C. Grow plant to around 10cm, harden off and transplant into the garden.

Also known as Pink Culver’s Root.
