The flowers of Phygelius 'Pink Puff' open on tall, upright stems summer to autumn. The blooms are a glorious, apricot pink and make good cut flowers. The leaves are dark green.
Phygelius are ideal plants for borders they bring both height and colour to the garden. They are quick to establish and easy to care for.
Phygelius is a sub shrub with woody stems commonly found in South African gardens. Plant in a full sun or lightly shaded spot. The soil should be moderately fertile to humus rich and well drained. Water to establish, then keep moist in active growth. These plants are suitable for cool to temperate and subtropical climates. Give plants a good prune after flowering. Height 1.2m can grow taller in warmer areas.
Excellent cut flower. Harvest when a third of the individual flowers on a stem are open. Buds will continue to open in the vase.
Sow seeds in pots during autumn. Barely over the seeds with soil. Water and keep damp. Seeds will germinate when temperatures are around 20C. Grow on in pots until plants are around 10cm high. Harden off and transplant into the garden.
