Nigella damascena 'Miss Jekyll Alba' (Love-in-a-Mist)

This beautiful, delicate-looking flower with feathery blue-green leaves is an annual that grows to around 50cm. Both the flowers and seed pods are used in floral arrangements. These are easy to grow plants and happily self seed. However, they won't grow well in very heavy, permanently wet soil and will not flower freely in shade. You can grow Nigella in most parts of Australia. Warmer areas in winter and cooler areas in summer.

Seeds are best direct sown. It is a simple as scattering your seeds and water. Keep the area damp but not wet. Seeds will germinate during spring when the temperature warms up. Leave some plants to self seeds and you will always have these in your garden.
