An old fashioned plant that is more known for its seeds than its flowers.
The distinctive flat, translucent papery pods, which hold the dark seeds, are often used in dried flower arrangements but can be left on the plant to add winter interest to the garden. The purple fragrant flowers appear in spring and early summer are very attractive in their own right. Plus they are attractive to pollinating insects.

Lunaria is biennial. Sow seeds in autumn to early summer to flower the following spring. Grow in moist but well-drained soil in sun to partial shade. I prefer to direct sow my seeds. Honesty thrives in fertile, moist and well-drained, slightly alkaline soil. It does best in partial shade.
