Inula magnifica is a dramatic looking plant, bearing huge sprays of bright yellow shaggy daisies. Flowers appear from mid summer to early autumn and are up to 15cm in diameter. In contrast are the enormous textured leaves that are aromatic. The basal leaves can reach 90cm in length. It is a robust, upright perennial growing to 1.8m when in flower.

It is perfect for a large sunny border in a sheltered location, or at the pond edge. Grow Inula magnifica in moist soil in partial shade to full sun. Cut back during autumn.

Inula ‘Magnifica’ is known for attracting bees, beneficial insects and other pollinators. It has nectar/pollen rich flowers.

Excellent cut flower with large flowers and long rigid steams. They are ideal for large displays and rustic arrangements. Cut stems when flowers are fully open or just opening to ensure longevity in the vase.

Seeds must have a cold spell to break dormancy. If you don't live in a cold enough area, place seeds in the fridge in a water tight container for 6 weeks before sowing. Sow seeds on the surface of the soil and sprinkle with a fine layer of soil. Water and keep damp but not wet. Seeds will germinate when temperatures are around 20C. But some seeds may still germinate the following spring. Grow plant to around 10cm, harden off and transplant into the garden. Plants will flower in their second year.
