Erysimum, or wallflower (English name of "wallflower" due to the fact they love the sharp drainage of a little pocket of gritty soil in a stone wall), is a genus of flowering plants in the cabbage family, Brassicaceae. It includes more than 150 species, both popular garden plants and many wild forms.
Wallflowers are spring and summer-flowering bedding plants, providing a wealth of colour for beds, borders and containers. Many also produce delightfully scented flowers. They can be annuals, biennials (growing in their first year and flowering in the second) or perennials.
This variety is a short lived perennial, flowering in the first year. Long flowering, scented and an excellent cut flower. Height 50cm.
Sow seeds directly to where you want to grow. These plants prefer a warm sheltered sunny spot, keep moist, rich well drained soil. Lightly cover the seeds with soil and keep damp but not wet. Seeds will germinate with the temperature reaches around 20C. These plants have a large root system and do not like to be transplanted.
