Arching flower wands swaying in the breeze, resemble a small fishing rod bending under the weight of a fairy's fish. An elegant perennial forming a clump of long, narrow, evergreen leaves, with tall, arching stems bearing nodding, bell-shaped, pink flowers. They create movement in the garden as they wave on even the gentlest breeze. They look really good when grown in combination with other ornamental grasses. These are very easy to grow plants. Grow in well drained soil in full sun. Tidy up in autumn. They are really that easy to grow. Height 1.5m.
Excellent cut flower. Pick stems when flowers are opening but before they fully mature for best vase life.
Seeds must be fresh, so autumn sowing only. This also allows for cold stratification. Sow seeds in pots barely over the seeds with soil. Water and keep damp. Seeds will germinate when temperatures are around 20C. Grow on in pots until plants are around 15cm high. Harden off and transplant into the garden. It takes up to 5 years for plants to flower.
