Coreopsis -Tickseed a ray of sunshine for your garden!

Coreopsis, commonly known as Tickseed, is prized by many gardeners for its flowers' bright colors and ability to put up with most garden soils. They are native to North America, growing in upright clumps and flowering throughout the summer. Grows plants in full sun and in well drained soil. High humidity levels typically aren't an issue for these plants as long as they have good air circulation. Dead head plants and cut back foliage in autumn. This variety was one of those plants I have collected along the way, so I don't know its name but it is a perennial. I have been growing it in my footpath garden for the past few years. Height 40cm.

Coreopsis are excellent cut flowers. Cut stems when two-thirds of the flowers are open. Vase life of 7 days.

Sow seeds during autumn or spring. I recommend sowing seeds into pots due to the small size of the seeds. Sprinkle seeds on top of the soil and water. Seeds need light to germinate. Keep seeds damp but not wet. Seeds will germinate when temperatures are around 20C. Grow plants to around 10cm in height, harden off and plant out.
