An old-fashioned, evergreen perennial that has a long bloom period. It has hairy, pinnate leaves and tall stems topped with panicles of brilliant orange-red semi-double flowers (4.5cm in width). Long-blooming, frost-hardy, and trouble-free. Height in flower 60cm. This is a very hardy plant, grow in full sun for the best flowering. It is not fussy about soil type but it needs to well draining.
Excellent cut flower with tall, strong, wiry stems ideal for cutting. Cut stems when the first buds are opening (or halfway open) for multiple blooms per stem. Vase life 5 to 7 days.
Seeds are sown in autumn. They can be direct sown or into pots. Sow on the surface and cover with soil. Water and keep damp but not wet. Seeds will germinate with temperatures are around 20C. If grown in pots. grow to the plant is 10cm in height, harden off and transplant into the garden.
